Reiseverlauf

Reiseverlauf abhängig von Wetter- und Eislage. Beschriebene Naturerlebnisse/Tiersichtungen sind mögliche Ereignisse auf den Expeditionen und nicht garantiert.

  • Day 1: Ushuaia, Argentina

Board your expedition vessel in the world’s southernmost city. After meeting your crew and fellow adventurers, settle into your cabin as the ship begins its journey along the scenic Beagle Channel. Enjoy your first evening at sea, watching the lights of Ushuaia fade behind you.

  • Day 2: Crossing the Drake Passage Begins

Enter the legendary Drake Passage, where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet the Southern Ocean. Attend expert-led talks on Antarctic history, wildlife, and geology. Head out on deck or visit the bridge to spot albatrosses and petrels gliding overhead.

  • Day 3: At Sea & First Glimpse of Antarctica

Continue your crossing through the Drake as excitement builds. Safety briefings and activity orientations for kayaking and snowshoeing are held. Keep your eyes peeled for whales and icebergs—the first signs of Antarctica will soon appear on the horizon.

  • Day 4: First Landings on the Antarctic Peninsula

Step ashore for your first encounter with the White Continent. Visit penguin colonies or take a Zodiac cruise past towering glaciers and surreal ice formations. Optional kayaking offers an intimate way to experience the icy seascape.

  • Day 5: Wildlife Encounters & Ice Exploration

Today may bring sightings of Weddell or crabeater seals, as well as humpback whales feeding in the nutrient-rich waters. Snowshoe up a ridge for panoramic views or paddle through glassy bays scattered with icebergs.

  • Day 6: Scenic Channels & Penguin Rookeries

Sail through dramatic channels like the Gerlache or Errera, flanked by snow-covered peaks and mirrored waters. Visit bustling penguin rookeries where Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins care for their chicks on rocky outcrops.

  • Day 7: Remote Landings Continue

Your expert team selects the day’s landing sites based on weather and ice conditions. Explore pristine areas rarely visited by other ships, where every Zodiac ride and landing feels like true discovery.

  • Day 8: Final Day on the Peninsula

Enjoy one last landing or Zodiac cruise—perhaps at Cuverville Island or Neko Harbour—before the ship turns north. Take in sweeping views of the polar landscape and reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the past few days.

  • Day 9: Farewell Landings in the South Shetlands

Conditions permitting, make a final landing at a wildlife-rich site like Brown Bluff or Paulet Island. Explore towering volcanic cliffs, historic relics, and Adélie penguin colonies before beginning the journey back across the Drake.

  • Day 10: Northbound Crossing of the Drake Passage

As the ship sails north, enjoy your last full day at sea. Attend wrap-up lectures, scan the horizon for seabirds and whales, and share memories with fellow travellers over a farewell dinner.

  • Day 11: Disembark in Ushuaia

Arrive back in Ushuaia early in the morning. After breakfast, disembark with a camera full of photos, a head full of stories, and memories of a once-in-a-lifetime Antarctic expedition.
